NEWS & EVENTS
So, welcome to 2023! As usual it's a rather slow time for the Ukes from January to March, but from April onwards things are hotting up. We start at the end of April with back to back gigs starting at the Victoria Centre in Harrogate on the 29thwhere we are supporting our old friends at St Michael's Hospice on one of their collection days – our last visit in March raised an impressive £250 so we're hoping to meet that target again.
The following day we're at Ripley Castle courtyard for a Food and Artisan market organised by Real Markets Yorkshire. Further ahead we have the following bookings:
-
7th May – Coronation celebrations at the Joiners Beer Garden in Hampsthwaite
-
8th May – another gig at the Victoria Centre supporting St Michael's Hospice
-
12th May – playing for the residents at Arthington Court sheltered housing in Harrogate
-
27th May – it's the big one! We're appearing at the Royal Hall in Harrogate as part of the 120th anniversary celebrations on the stage where the Beatles and the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain have performed! A point of interest – the Beatles were paid £75 for their performance and tickets were 3/6 (17p)
-
14th June - .playing for the charity 'Supporting Older People'
-
24th June – the Harrogate Food Festival on the Stray
-
2nd July – back at the Victoria Centre supporting St Michael's Hospice
-
16th July – our regular slot at the Harrogate Summer Concert series – playing at Knaresborough Castle
-
23rd July – another Summer Concert at Ripon Spa Gardens
-
29th July – back to the Victoria Centre supporting St Michael's Hospice
-
6th August - another Summer Concert in Valley Gardens, Harrogate
-
13th August – Summer Concert at Pately Bridge recreation ground
-
27th August – another appearance at the Harrogate Food Festival – this time at Ripley Castle
-
.. and then four more gigs for St Michael's between September and December.
So it's going to be a busy summer! April is also the end of our financial year and we are delighted to report that we raised just over £4500 for charity in the year. We play for fun – but the support we are able to give to local causes is a bonus.
