NEWS & EVENTS
Summer's now a distant memory and autumn has given way to winter, but the Ukes are still all geared up to provide some Christmas cheer with our Christmas set list and our Santa outfits – it's Christmas party time!
We're playing at two Christmas Markets, one in Knaresborough on 3rd December and in Harrogate on 9th December – both outdoors so we are hoping for dry days!
We're supporting the 'senior community' (no 'old people' thank you very much!) at Arthington Court on 1st December, the 'Let's sing together' dementia group in Ilkley (with 'ats) on 5th December and Supporting Older People back in Harrogate on 14th December.
16th December will see us back at the Victoria Centre in Harrogate supporting our old friends and charity partner, St Michael's Hospice on one of their collection days. In the last financial year we collected over £4500 for St Michael's.
Christmas wouldn't be the same without our appearance at the Dancing for Well Being Christmas parties in Boroughbridge on 11th December, and back in Harrogate venues on 13th, 18th and 20th December.
So that's 10 gigs over 20 days – I think the band will deserve a well earned rest over Christmas and the new year.
A nice little story. The wife of one of our newer members came to one of our Victoria Centre gigs – keeping out of the way so as not to put her husband off. She was stood behind a young family with a little girl of about 8, who was singing along and dancing to the music. Her Mum asked her what she thought of the band. She replied, 'they're very, very good, but they're all very old'.
We played at the Harrogate Royal Hall to support the celebration of the 120th anniversary of the building. The photos below show the band on stage - the same stage the Beatles played on in the late 60s and on the steps outside the hall.
